THE BROMLEY CONTINGENT
Chris Gunning (centre left) is Head of Drama and Artistic Director of Productions at Hayes Secondary School in Bromley, Kent, where he has taught for the past 10 years. In his former life as a professional actor he worked for several years with the award winning 'Cherub Company London' and achieved critical acclaim for his play Sleeping with Friends. He has previously performed at four Edinburgh Fringe Festivals in the 1990’s, twice with University groups and twice as a professional actor. He has directed over 20 plays at Hayes and in 2009 he formed the community theatre company 'Burning down the House', for whom he directed the South-East amateur premiere of Alan Bennett’s The History Boys.
Gemma Carmen (top left) has recently completed an MA in playwriting at Royal Holloway, following a degree at the same establishment. Glory Days is her first publicly produced piece of work.
The actors of The Bromley Contingent are former students of Hayes School in Bromley. They are currently being kept off the streets in a variety of ways; Alex, Hannah and Hannah are studying Drama at Exeter, Rebekah Drama and English at Birmingham and Stefan is a Primary School Learning Support Assistant. With the exception of Rebekah, all made their Festival debuts with Glory Days.
Music for the show is supplied by local Bromley Band - and fellow Hayes Alumni, COJAK.
