THE BROMLEY CONTINGENT
THE BROMCON
The Bromley Contingent was formed in August 2012 by Chris Gunning and Rebekah Lucking.
Created as a project to reunite a group of former A Level Drama students – and their teacher - now scattered
across various universities and workplaces, The Contingent collaborated with new playwright Gemma Carmen on a brand new piece exploring a subject close to their hearts; the emotional upheaval that goes with the changes and challenges experienced by a group of school friends in the summer after they leave school. The concept had been slowly developing in director Chris Gunning’s head for a number of years. “It’s a major event in everyone’s lives and something that as a teacher I get to see a new group of students experience every year. The change in them when they come to collect A Level results and then when they pop in to school to say hello when most of them are “in limbo” in September is extraordinary. I wanted to create something that reflects both the excitement and the sadness of saying goodbye to the establishment, rituals and friendships that have dominated their lives.”
Having completed a successful run of Glory Days at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2013, The Bromley Contingent are currently considering a number of projects for 2014.
